Trying to post

evlszc

This is Jenny going down the driveway to the mailbox...she has "territorialized" the grounds around the mailbox...they are hers, and she wants to make sure neither BD nor I use the turf as our bathroom...she has nothing to worry about.

This is Jenny...she is the one with the short legs...she has moved to Kennesaw to live with BD's son, but his Cat died this week-end so BD and I kept Jenny for them...it really brings to me that I miss having a dog around the house...she stays quite close to BD and remembers her. Jenny lived at BD's ex's house in California...she has made herself right at home here and I am sure Bryan will make her feel quite the lucky Puppy when she gets back to Kennesaw...

Got some new furniture for the Great Room...the loveseat and the leather recliner opposite are the new pieces as well as the rug they sit on...heading up to the Smokies in the morning...going to spend a day or so in Gatlinburg, Tennessee...it is a town that is somewhat tacky (so tacky your your shoes stick to the sidewalk they say with a laugh) but fun to go and see...lots of candy, souvenir and trinket shops, hand-made furniture and mantle clocks, museums, and, of course, the scenery of the Smokies...

My Mom is here to visit for a week...she kind'a ignores Farmboy...she sometimes walks over to the hearth and just looks at him, then shakes her head, and mumbles something about a good school and upbringing and not being sure how it came to having a goose and a Farmboy instead of a dog or a cat...what ever that means...

...then we bought some wheat straw to add a little Halloween flavor to the front porch...that's the Farmboy's Dad sitting on the straw...isn't the similiarity uncanny! But the characteristic of being somewhat quiet and not very energetic is easily identified in the Father too...I guess the straw didn't fall far from the wheat in this family...

...near the front door on the front porch...

...the front porch...

...next to the Hibiscus on the back porch...

...the deck...

...the steps to the back porch...

This is another shot of the mums we bought...BD got enough to put just about everywhere on the back porch...

Then, we talked about a chain saw for the house. BD was ready with the winning idea on this one too...she suggested I rent one and try to saw/split all the fallen trees next to the house (where they had pushed the downed trees when they built)...she is so smart! So, Saturday before my Mom came into town I got up at day break and sawed and split these 4 piles of firewood before cleaning up to go to the airport...even had a little time before we left to browse a couple of internet bicycle helmet sites to start looking for that special one that is me...I don't think I will buy a chain saw, though...didn't really like the noise.

We planted some azaleas and mums around the island in the back this week-end...I hate to do yard work, but BD had been so nice to me I just couldn't say no...I mentioned just the day before that I was still thinking of buying a Harley Davidson after the first of the year, and she, being so smart and thoughtful at the same time, came up with the best idea...she said, "Why don't you just buy a motorcycle helmet and wear it around the house for couple of weeks to see if you like it." Man, she is so smart...but I am going to use my head on this one too...I am going to buy a bicyclist's helmet first, get used to that, then work myself up to a real motorcycle rider's helmet...don't want to go hog wild over this at first, ya' know...helmets are expensive...anyway, for being so nice to me I dug the holes to plant the flowers in and spread the pine straw this AM...

He seems like a nice enough boy, but he has a habit of rockng in his chair whenever you touch his left hand...doesn't say much, either, but he apparently thinks the world of Gertie...I guess, anyway...she does little else but sit on her spot, look at him, and just stare off intl space...

Boy...kids these days...BD and I left the house for only a little while Saturday and when we came back we found Gertie had decided to make her love affair with Farmboy known to one and all...she said she didn't care who knew, she loved him and wanted everyone to know...kids these days...
