UPDATE!!!

I apologize for being tardy with this posting...BD and I went to Santa Fe and Albuquerque, New Mexico the first week-end in May...met some friends out there and visited both cities and close-by attractions. Bob, the Husband, was raised in Los Alamos, NM, and he and his wife Karin go back yearly...I think they would really love to live there again, and one day I hope they get to! Anyway, rode a tram up to Sandia Peak (rode in the middle, looking outside as little as possible), Santa Fe Ski area, Los Alamos National Laboratories, and most interesting Bandelier National Monument where Pueblo dwelling Indians lived...fascinating.

Though that is all interesting, the point of this post is to let you know that upon our return on Monday, May 1st, there was a letter waiting from the FAA. The FAA has granted me a medical certificate under the "Special Issuance" law, meaning that the medical is good until January 31, 2007 (a year's medical dating from the end of the one that recently expired), provided I visit my Neuro-Ophthalmologist by year's end and have another complete neuro exam and eye exam. This all has to be in by January 1st so it can be perused and adjudicated. If they feel I am still good to go, then they will extend my medical through January 31, 2008 (the normal tenure of a 3rd class medical for a Pilot over 40 years old), and thereafter can hold a "normal" 3rd class medical with exams every other year and without a "special issuance" stamp on the medical.

I am a happy camper! Went flying last Friday evening, in the Tiger we recently put on the flight line, and it was grand! A little rusty, having flown only 3 times since January, but now that I am legal again I will get back up to speed as quickly as I can safely do so...
